Vain Prayers
“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you
have need of before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8
In the above passage, Jesus is referring to the manner in
which the heathen (unsaved) prayed. They prayed vain repetitions; wordy prayers
that held no meaning because they didn’t have a relationship with God. They
didn’t depend on Him for their lives, much less their needs. Jesus tells
believers, we are not to be the same in our prayers.
Our prayers should mean something because we believe in the
God we are praying to and know that He will supply our needs. There is great
comfort in this passage.
Thought for the Day: “…For your heavenly
Father knows that you need all these things.”
--Matthew 6:32
