The Elevation of Women

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free,
there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Galatians 3:28

Contrary to what the secular world states, Christianity did much to evaluate the status of women and free them from the bondage experienced during Old Testament times. Under Jewish law, a women was merely a possession having no legal rights whatsoever. A husband could divorce his wife for any reason, but a wife could not leave her husband, in fact, because of this, the woman’s father received alimony in advance from the husband-to-be.

When the Apostle Paul commanded husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, it was a revolutionary statement. That kind of love told the husbands to put their wives first, to be a servant, and to love sacrificially. The Bible clearly states that there is no difference between a man and a woman in terms of intelligence, humanness, and spiritual matters.

Thought for the Day:
Chauvinism says, “Men are better than women.”
Feminism says, “Women are better than men.”
The Bible says, “Men and Women are equal in God’s eyes.”
