An Individual Choice
“Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His
commandments.” Psalm 112:1
In an article in
Christianity Today called, “Earnest Hemingway, Tragedy of an Evangelical,”
Daniel Pawley wrote: “Few people know it, but both sets of Earnest Hemingway’s
grandparents were committed evangelical Christians. In fact, his paternal
grandparents were both graduates of Wheaten
College and very close
friends of D.L. Moody. His maternal grandfather was such a godly patriarchal
figure that his grandchildren called him “Abba.” Furthermore, one of
Hemingway’s uncles was a missionary to China. Yet Earnest Hemmingway,
after leaving his evangelical rearing in Oak Park, Illinois, became the
worldwide emblem of the lost generation who said, ‘I live in a vacuum that is
as lonely as a radio tube when the batteries are dead and there is no current
to plug into’ – and took his own life.”
Thought for the Day: Each person must make
his or her own decision To accept Jesus
Christ.
