Playing with
Temptation
“Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when
it is full-green, brings forth death.” James 1:15
Dr. Billy Graham has often said that there are three main
things that will destroy a person; sex, money, and pride. I would like to add
to that list alcohol and deception as well. As a pastor, I have counseled many
people who have lost their jobs, family and dignity because of these five
deadly vices. It is tragic to see that Satan has such a stronghold on people
through these very destructive temptations.
We need to constantly remember that we are not fighting
temptation for victory but from victory. God has given every believer the
ability and the power (through Jesus Christ) to overcome temptation and walk in
the Spirit. However, we are not to play with temptation.
Thought for the Day: “You cannot play with
the animal in you without becoming wholly animal, Play the falsehood
without forfeiting your right to truth, Play the cruelty
without losing your sensitivity of mind. He who wants to keep
his garden tidy doesn’t reserve a spot for weeds." -Author
