“But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word,
are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
2 Peter 3:7 

After the Great White Throne, God will destroy the old heavens and earth by fire. The physical universe as we know it wil be destroyed.

John Walvoord, in his book End Times, says, “The entire physical universe, the earth and the whole panorama of the heavens with it’s trillions of stars and heavenly bodies, will apparently all be dissolved, reduced to nothing as they were before the creation. The Bible gives no reason for this except that the New Jerusalem will be aglow with the glory of God, and there will be no sun and moon (Revelation 21:23, 22:25).”

Even though this world will pass away as we know it, God’s Word never passes away. We can rely on the Word of God and the Lord’s promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. Be encouraged – God is on your side, He’s got everything in His control!
