The Source of Our Temptation
“Let no one
say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God’; for God cannot be
tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is
tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed” James 1:13-14
The main source of temptation is our own fleshly
nature. We were born sinners, with an
automatic tendency to be drawn to those things that God forbids. Selfishness, lying, covetousness and
rebellion all come very naturally for even the smallest toddler.
When
we become born-again Christians we acquire a new nature – one born of God and
not flesh. However, we still have the
old nature with us until we die. The two
natures are at odds with each other and at war.
Thought for the Day: We may lose a few battles, But Christ dies so that we may win the war
