Love Your Enemies
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for
the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a
good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8
God loves His enemies. Jesus went to the cross, bearing all
of the shame and suffering, so that His enemies could become friends. God
wanted to reconcile mankind back to Himself while we were rebelling and
fighting Him tooth and nail. That is the heart of God’s compassion – it drives
us to help our enemies. Jesus cared about you and I even when we were far away
from Him. He took pity on our sinful state and took measures to set us free from
the bondage of sin.
If He had compassion for us while we were his enemies, how
much more will His compassion touch our lives as believers!
Thought for the Day: A compassionate heart
is Tender, kind, merciful and sympathetic.
