Different Lies – One
Deception
“I hate lying and abhor lying, but I love your law.”
Psalm 119:163
We need to understand that there are different types of
lies. I know that I have counseled a number of people who would say to me,
“It’s just a little white lie,” or “I didn’t lie, I just didn’t say anything.”
When you withhold all of the truth, you are lying! Not informing someone of
something that they should know is a form of lying! Flattery and exaggeration
are forms of lying and deception! Keeping silent and not sharing is also a form
of lying! Presenting yourself as something you are not is deception! And,
hiding details and being vague is a form of lying as well!
The dictionary definition for “deceive” is “to make a person
believe what is not true; mislead; act of fraud.” That sheds light on the act
of lying and deception. Can you understand why God hates lying so much?
Thought for the Day: When you lie, you are
misleading people, Committing fraud against them, and ultimately harming them!
