Jesus Wept
“And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come
and see.” Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!” John 11:34-36
“Jesus wept.” It’s the shortest verse in the Bible – just
two words. But these two words reveal the character of Jesus Christ in a
tremendous way.
Many believe that Jesus wept because Lazarus had died.
Others believe that He wept because He saw the immense grief and sorrow that
Mary, Martha, and others were suffering due to Lazarus’ death. Yet others
believe that Jesus wept because of the lack of faith He saw among some of His
closest friends. However, the tears that Jesus wept came from an even deeper
compassion than the beliefs listed above. Jesus wept because He had to bring
Lazarus back from paradise.
Thought for the Day:
God desires that we
be with Him in paradise.
