The Unity of
Submission
“Submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
Ephesians 5:21
Submission takes place in marriage on both the husband’s and
the wife’s part. When the husband was given the directive to love his wife as
Christ loved the church, this was communicating a role of servant hood – a
sacrificial love. The word “submit” in Greek means to “be under,” just as the
husband and wife are under Christ.
Submission is a voluntary yielding to one’s admonition or
advice. In this way, marriage calls for both partners to submit to one another,
putting the other first, and it includes a constant adapting to each other’s
likes, interests, temperaments and personality.
Thought for the Day: Godly submission
brings about peace And harmony in the
home.
