The Shame of
Drunkenness
“Then he drank of the wine and was drunk,
And became uncovered in his tent.”
Genesis 9:21
Noah became drunk, and with it, lay naked in his tent for
people to see. His drunkenness brought shame to Noah and his family. My father
was an alcoholic, and though he had a good job and made good money, he would
spend every night and weekend getting drunk. His behavior would change when he
had been drinking. He would verbally and physically abuse my mom.
Solomon makes it clear – people who drink do not think
clearly and are often led into doing perverse things. Alcoholics often
hallucinate and tend to take on a daredevil mentality, thinking they can do
anything because their senses are dulled. It is clear, that Alcohol does
nothing to promote self-control or godliness. Is God speaking to you regarding
the issue of alcohol?
Thought for the Day: Once people cave in
to the temptation to drink, Many of them are soon
in bondage to Alcohol.
