The Temptation to
Drink
“At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper.”
Proverbs 23:32
Where does the temptation to drink come from? Some people
begin drinking socially, living the “party” lifestyle, so they think, yet all
the while they are addicted. Others begin drinking as a way to relieve feelings
of inadequacy. Some drink to escape worries and dispel the blues, and yet
others drink to cope with the hardships of life.
Regardless of the specific reason, alcohol is a false
healer. It does not dispel the blues – it makes them greater. Alcohol does not
help you escape your problems, it only increases your bondage.
