Compassion in the
Midst of Failure
“But Peter said, ‘Man, I do not know what you are saying!’ Immediately,
while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked
at Peter.” Luke 22:60-61
As, the Lord’s children, He is not waiting for us to make
one wrong move so He can punish us! In fact, when we do blow it, Jesus looks at
us with eyes of mercy and compassion desiring to bring us back into right
relationship with Him.
Remember when Peter denied Jesus after He was arrested? At
the sound of the last crow, Peter realized he had blown it. He had denied
Christ. But Peter saw Jesus in the corridor the Lord looked at him with eyes of
compassion – knowing fully how horrible Peter felt.
Thought for the Day: Our lord is not
waiting to pounce on us when we fail. The look He gave Peter, He gives to us.
