Caught Up!
“Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught
Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way
rejoicing.” Acts 8:39
Critics say that the word “rapture” is never used in the
Bible. They use this argument against those of us who believe in the rapture of
the church. Are they right? Though it is true that the word “rapture” does not
appear in the Bible, Latin translators of the Greek New Testament did use the
word “raptus”, which is the root of the English term “rapture”. They translated
this word from the Greek word, “horpazo,” which means “to snatch up” or “lead
away forcibly”.
The special thing about the rapture of the church is that
there will be a generation of people who will not experience death. They will
literally be “caught up” to meet the Lord in the sky. It is very possible that
you will be part of that generation! Does the thought of the rapture excite you
or cause you concern? If you are walking closely with the Lord, the rapture is
an event you will be looking forward to, however, if you are backslidden and
living in the world, the rapture is an event that you will be dreading.
Thought for the Day: If the rapture
happened today, Would you be “caught up” or left behind?
