The Devil’s Flaw

“I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.”
Isaiah 14:14 

Pride us the root sin of all other sins, and it brought Lucifer down, making the devil – the enemy of our souls. How arrogant of Satan, a created being to think that he could become God and rise above the Lord. Is it any wonder that pride is an abomination to the Lord?

C.S. Lewis said, “The essential vice, the almost evil, is pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, and drunkenness are mere flea biters in comparison. It was through pride that the Devil became the Devil. Pride leads to every other vice. It is the complete anti-God state of mind. As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people. And, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”

Because of pride, Satan literally though he could overthrow the Throne of God!
