When Paul wrote the above scripture, he was referring to the Olympic Games, which were prevalent in the Greek culture. Athletes would discipline themselves in order to be able to win the race. Everyone can start the race, but only one finishes to win the prize. In the same way, as Christians, we are in a race. All of us are able to start the race, but how many of us are going to finish?
