God Desires to Cleanse Us

“Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying ‘I am willing,
be cleansed.’ Immediately, the leprosy left him.”
Luke 5:13

The Lord had compassion on the leper. This man riddled with disease knew he had no hope on earth. He knew he needed to be cleansed, but that it could only come from God. He humbly sought the Lord’s help and Jesus, in His compassion, healed his wounds.

One of the first things God heals in our lives is our sinful state. As sinners, we are without hope on earth. We are in bondage to our flesh and no one can deliver us accept God. When we humbly turn to the Lord seeking cleansing (forgiveness) of our sins, He forgives us, cleanses us, and restores our fellowship with God. It is then that we are given a new nature, one that is born of God, and no longer riddled with the condemnation of sin.
