Learn From Your Husband

“And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands
at home; for it is shameful for woman to speak in church.”
1 Corinthians 14:35 

The way the synagogue was set up, the women sat separately from the men in a divided section. As the rabbi was teaching the Word of God, the women would try to ask their husbands what the rabbi meant, and would end up disrupting the service. This scripture is not saying that women cannot speak in church, but rather, that the husband should be instructing his wife at home regarding the Scriptures.

Remember, the Bible clearly teaches that there is a spiritual equality between men and women. Wives should be involved in their church services, Bible studies, women’s studies, etc. However, it is the function of the husband as the spiritual leader to pray, read the Word of God, and instruct his wife at home.
