Contrast was formed back in 1998 when four members of the future band, Radu Rosu, Alin & Tina Timofte and Florin Serban, climbed on to an improvised stage to perform a couple of songs together at summer camp. From that first performance, the group had a vision to improve their talents and change the face of Christian music in Romania. Later, the four were joined by Radu Serban who helped them by motivating, organizing and promoting the vision. As the band evolved and grew in their musical talents, the quality grew as new members joined them, with Ovidiu Andreica, a talented and well known guitar player, as well of Cristi Tranca on drums and Fane Cifor on Bass guitar. After many years of playing together, Contrast was nominated for the “Year 2000 Best Christian Band” at the “Christian Music Awards” in the city of Oradea and they won.

The band’s name, Contrast, came up as the members perceived the need for their generation to be counter to what their society was promoting, which was “pro” anything but moral values. In that context, CONTRAST was born.
