‘Christmas Every Day’

Cherish the thought for a moment, Christmas every day . . .  what would that look like? What would it feel like? I do not mean the snowy scenery, decorated Christmas trees and the giving of gifts that we shall soon enjoy!

Look at the word Christmas, whose name is found? Christ! This is one special day when we celebrate Christ’s birth; therefore the day is called Christmas. The word Christmas means Christ’s mass. Christ is in the Greek form of the Hebrew word “Messiah”, meaning “anointed”. It has become a Christian celebration, one that recognizes God’s salvation through His Only Beloved Son, sent to earth for our sinful souls.

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels,  for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He,   by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. – Hebrews 2:9

He was born to die for the redemption of mankind. All for divine love God stretched forth an arm of grace to degenerating man who walks estranged from Him. We are all born into sin separated from God, spiritually dead and sadly we shall all die physically.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. – Psalm 51:5

This One Holy Child, this Prince of Life bridged an impossible chasm for man to cross. Earth to heaven’s road is blazed by His Light.

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him . . . – Hebrews 7:25

On acceptance of this celebrated Christmas Child we are miraculously born again, we may still die physically, but we are made alive spiritually (John 3:1-21). Oh glorious Good News, listen as Carolers still proclaim in song our Salvation at Christmas time:

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen , Let nothing you Dismay,  Remember Christ our Savior, Was Born on Christmas Day, To Save us all From Satan’s   power  When we have gone Astray, Oh Tidings of Comfort and Joy Comfort and Joy, Oh Tidings of Comfort and Joy.

As Christmas passes, why limit our joyful celebrations of salvation to one day of the year? Do we, as Christians, not have Christ in our hearts each and every day? Why not spread the Spirit of the Christmas message through each and every season, to every person near and far? Should we not be kind, loving, warm and generous to all people all the year-long?

Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim the good news of His salvation  from day to day. – 1 Chronicles 16:23

We are in a world full of lost sinners, dying without Christ every day. The urgency is for the Gospel message to reach them now. Let us not wait for one day out of the year for them to be invited to a Christmas service.

Live Christ every day, influence the lost, be a light for them, so they can be saved any day of the year.

. . . Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.  – 2 Corinthians 6:2
