What a great privilege it is to be a mother! In the United States, Mother’s Day was introduced in the 19th century by a woman named Ann Reeves Jarvis. She lived in West Virginia and started “Mother’s Day Work Clubs” to help the local women learn how to take better care of their children. Her daughter Anna Jarvis, after her mother’s death in 1905, followed in her mother’s footsteps. She wanted to honor her mother’s legacy for the work she had started. She set a day aside to honor mothers and to give the recognition for the sacrifices they daily make for their children.
